A stairwell inside a planetarium foyer, one wall saffron, deep and powdery and the other chalk white, warm and faintly cream where the sun lands, flat matte paint and the two meeting at a hard edge. A stair with open risers, the colour change running underneath it. One shaft of hard light cuts diagonally across wall and steps together, the lit wedge reading as a triangular shape in its own right and the treads inside it glowing hot. A slim handrail catches the light as one continuous bright line. Each wall's shade is a deeper version of its own colour. The mass is so large that the whole frame is one plane of it and the ground is a strip at the bottom. Clean, the surfaces smooth, the one optical event a soft halo around each lit source. Clinical and alarming, a service stair treated as a colour experiment. One slow pull backwards at a constant speed, the subject holding its place in the frame. One continuous take, held to the end, the grade and the framing staying exactly as described for the whole shot.
