A serpentine wall of glass block curves through the terrace of a seawater lido, taking the left half of the frame and running off the left and bottom edges, the camera along the terrace and the wall curving away. The wall is lit from behind so the blocks themselves are the source, each unit catching its own square of sulphur yellow light. One dark doorway is cut into it and a circular opening sits in the ceiling plane above. The floor is warm terracotta tile carrying the glow, the ceiling a dark ochre plane. One dark plant stands against the lit wall and lays its shadow over the blocks. A pale band of sea shows past the far edge. Photographed on film, fine grain through the mid-tones and holding in the darks. Warm and strange, a corridor lit as though the wall itself held the sun.
