A room inside a listening room built for one instrument, square on and symmetrical about the centre, running off the bottom and both side edges. Tiers stepping down to a round pit under a lit dome, the seating in crimson velvet, deep and even cotton velvet and filling the lower two thirds of the frame. The lit ceiling is the only source, warm and even. The velvet reads matte, the nap turning lighter as each tier curves. Three small shaded table lamps stand along the tiers and one low cabinet sits on the floor. the upholstery is run over every surface, the steps and the sills included. Photographed on film, fine grain through the mid-tones and holding in the darks Institutional and plush at once, a room built for sitting through something.
