Photograph at chest height, square on to an exceptionally beautiful woman, high fashion casting, standing dead centre. The ground is a saturated deep magenta seamless lit hard from behind her so it blooms pale directly behind her head and shoulders and deepens to full strength in the corners, matte and featureless. Her gown is unlit and black to the eye, one flat cut shape with a razor-crisp edge against the deep magenta — two enormous stiffened shoulder wings and a narrow column skirt falling straight to the bottom edge. One small hard frontal source reaches only her collarbone, her shoulder caps and the tops of her cheeks, everything beyond falling to unlit black, the falloff hard across a few centimetres. Wet specular sheen on the collarbone and the shoulder. A marigold silk bodice is the one colour note. Her hair is built tall and coarse above the crown, spiking into the deep magenta. Acid green liner swept over both lids. Hands on her hips. Imperious and squared up, chin level, eyes straight down the lens, mouth closed.
