One vast salt pan crust, buckled in wind-carved rock fills most of the frame, buckled into stacked overlapping lobes, every lobe's surface layered in fine horizontal strata that step across the breaks between them, its structure read as layered horizontal strata stepping across every break with each band a slightly different warm value. Unbroken snow, the form's base buried so the snow runs straight up to it and the join is lost. A violet-blue bloom field, deeply coloured and dark, with one warm red-orange accent carrying the only warmth in frame, and the shadows warm with it. Hard high sun from one side, an empty cobalt sky deepening to the top edge, and one long black shadow bar thrown clear across the open ground. The strata dense, the sand and sky calm. The frame empty of people. Ancient and patient, carved by weather over an unimaginable time.
