One single widescreen film frame in landscape, wider than it is tall, full bleed to all four edges — one continuous photograph taken from one camera position at one shot size in one moment. Close, medium, high-angle wide, close. A different camera position in every panel — in the first the camera at the subject's shoulder from behind, following them away, in the second the camera in profile from the left, the subject looking out of frame, in the third the camera in profile from the right, the subject turning into it — the subject at a clearly different size in each and turned away from the camera in at least one. The whole frame inside amber tungsten, a dim room with the source in frame at full purity, carried by the architecture itself — the walls, tiles and furnishings all painted that colour so it holds absolutely flat across whole surfaces — with one complementary accent in golden amber backlight, the source behind the subject and the air carrying it. Neutrals at one percent. A motel forecourt, an ice machine, a lit sign, built either on a one-point perspective running away to a vanishing point with one invented adult in a costume that is the point of the picture — feather wings, a one-piece racing suit and a helmet, a sequinned dress, a uniform small and walking away, or on a close face partly occluded by a foreground object. A suitcase, standing in one panel and in hand in another stands in the first and the last panel and binds the stack. A party at full volume that the subject is outside of and watching, with a violet wash behind the subject and a straw-coloured key in front somewhere else in the frame. Specular highlights on the tiled surfaces, fine grain. Rain or snow falling through a lit cone. Storybook and precise, a world built to one colour, warm and slightly unreal.
