A natural-wine launch poster flooded edge to edge in vermilion with everything on it in one pale apricot, printed letterpress from wood: every stem very slightly bowed as though the block rocked under pressure, the ink chipped and patchy inside the larger letters, the edges chewed, a faint halo around each shape. Plain, blunt, centred, each line a different width so the block is ragged on both sides set in the letterform drawn as an outline alone with the ground showing straight through it across three lines of caps at the top, hairline counters — the letterforms solid, their internal joints drawn as thin lines in the ground colour so each line is justified to exactly the same full measure and a three-word line is set enormous where a five-word line is smaller, one directly on the next, with a swash mid-word among them. A bunch of flowers or a potted plant, flat and frontal, a potted plant seen straight on laid across the middle of the sheet as a chipped woodblock impression, its label hand-scrawled in a loose script. Beneath the display, a launch line of three more justified lines; in the lower third, two justified credit blocks where each line pairs a bold statement with a small by and a name; a rule struck through one word of the copy; and Saturday 2 August, doors 7.30pm, 18 Mare Street E8 3RH on one justified line along the very foot. Two tints of one hue as the entire palette.
