an inverted dune in smooth grey sand fills the upper two thirds of the frame, hanging from above with its whole surface dripping in long smooth runnels that all point down, and a sheet of dry sand pouring down. Directly below it the ground opens into a void. pale chalky desaturated colour throughout, bright even light, the mid-tones held down and the shadows still deep, almost colourless. one shaft through a single opening in an otherwise enclosed space, hard-edged, everything it misses still legible. The runnels dense overhead, the void below completely empty. the frame empty of people. Vertiginous and quiet, a mistake in gravity nobody is reacting to.
