An aerosol duotone, the whole frame a continuous soft haze with a fine even film grain over it and every form sprayed rather than drawn, the space a vertical drift of colour running from near-black at the top down to the hot hue at the bottom. Sodium orange against chalky lilac-grey, the hot colour the only chroma in the frame and the cold one staying milky and desaturated throughout. A tall woman with sloping shoulders, lifting one frame out of a beehive, large and close in the frame and filling about half its height, solid at its core and dissolving into the haze at its edges with a bright rim where it meets the dark. Four layers back to front: the dark upper field, the broad drift of the hot hue rising from the bottom, the figure's sprayed mass, then a fine top pass of film grain over everything. Mythic and ominous, an apparition inside an enormous hostile atmosphere, played completely straight.
