An aerosol duotone in two inks, incandescent amber and a deep near-black, sprayed through a stencil so that a dense fine speckle of aerosol grain covers every part of the frame. The hot colour floods the picture at full saturation and holds the great majority of it edge to edge, with the near-black sitting inside it as solid silhouette shapes and a narrow band of milky sea-green showing at one edge as the only cool note in the frame. A heavy-set woman with a wide forehead, sliding a long peel into an oven mouth, large and close and filling about half the frame's height, read as a dark silhouette inside that hot field with a bright rim of the hot colour burning along its lit edge, every form sprayed rather than drawn. Four layers back to front: the flooded hot field, the broad dark masses within it, the figure's silhouette, then a fine top pass of aerosol speckle over everything. Mythic and ominous, an apparition inside an enormous hostile atmosphere, played completely straight.
